Expect smoother, more refined skin with a reduction in the appearance of acne scars, wrinkles, and age spots as well as other benefits with dermabrasion
How is Dermabrasion Done?
Specialized equipment is used to perform dermabrasion, and treatment typically lasts between 15 and 60 minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated and the desired outcome.
- The areas of the skin to be treated are marked and Dr. Bolitho chooses the appropriate device for the session.
- A very controlled abrasion of the skin's surface is done in the targeted areas using a handheld device with a spinning wheel or brush coated with a rough material such as diamond particles. The outermost layers of skin cells are removed, stimulating the production of new, healthy skin cells underneath.
- After the procedure, the treated skin is likely to be red, swollen, and sensitive so a soothing ointment is applied.
