Setting a Standard of Care in San Diego

In 2000, Dr. Bolitho and his family moved to San Diego, California, where he opened the doors to his private practice in La Jolla.  During this time, he served a non-salaried appointment as an Associate Professor in Plastic Surgery at the University of California, San Diego, and several terms as the Chief of Plastic Surgery at Scripps Memorial Hospital. He is currently an Associate Professor of Plastic Surgery at UCSD. The Scripps Memorial La Jolla campus is adjacent to Dr. Bolitho’s practice, and he maintains a private operating suite there, which is accredited by the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities.

Quadruple Board-certified

It is important to Dr. Bolitho that he spend as much one-on-one time as needed with patients every step of the way—from answering questions during the consultation to personally caring for his patients after treatment. He and his like-minded team aren’t satisfied with a treatment or procedure achieving anything less than the client’s aesthetic vision. Safety and care are paramount. And that, along with Dr. Bolitho’s decades of experience and expertise, is how he has earned his reputation for getting excellent results. Dr. Bolitho is quadruple board-certified. He offers three decades of experience achieving stunning results as a plastic surgeon. Yet his prestigious credentials never intimidate. He is a patient favorite for his results, yes, but also for his down-to-earth, accessible, conversational demeanor.

Background and Education

Born and raised in South Africa, Dr. Bolitho is a second-generation physician. His passion for becoming a doctor was influenced by his father, who was also a physician. He attended the University of Witwatersrand, and his hard work earned him numerous awards and honors. After completing residencies in general surgery and plastic surgery, as well as fellowships at the University of Cape Town, Dr. Bolitho went on to Oxford’s Radcliffe Infirmary in England, continuing in plastic surgery.

Dr. Bolitho eventually moved to the U.S. and continued to increase his capabilities in plastic and reconstructive surgery at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. He completed additional fellowships in plastic surgery as well as surgical oncology. He also served a full-time faculty position at Emory – Assistant Professor of Plastic Surgery.
