In a woman’s life, motherhood can be one of the most rewarding things she ever experiences, but it may take a toll on particular parts of her body such as the breasts and abdomen. A “mommy makeover,” also fondly referred to as a “rejuvenation surgery for mothers,” has grown more popular with each passing year.
This surgery is preferably performed after a woman completes her family.
Undoubtedly, this procedure can help restore how a woman looked prior to her pregnancy days. Dr.Bolitho has had the honor to help women with this cosmetic rejuvenation procedure.
While some women are relatively immune from the gravities of pregnancy, a number of women fall into the category of requiring cosmetic surgery to achieve their aesthetic goals.
Every woman and her needs are different.
Women who may benefit from a “mommy makeover” include the following:
In your initial consultation, Dr. Bolitho will carefully listen to your aesthetic goals and wishes. This is your special time to be absolutely candid. During this special meeting, he will assess your overall health and medical history.
For the abdominal area, he will examine if diastasis recti, abdominal fat deposits, and redundant skin is present.
In reference to the breast area, he will assess any redundant skin, loss of volume or need for reduction.
For the abdominal area, Dr. Bolitho will determine which abdominoplasty, also known as a tummy tuck, may be most beneficial.
The three types of “tummy tucks” to choose from are the following:
For breast enhancement, most women typically want their breasts restored prior to their pregnancy and breast feeding days.
The surgical options for women include:
Photos for your medical file will be taken and automatically downloaded to a state-of-the-art software program, TouchMD. The photographs will reflect the areas of potential cosmetic surgical treatment and are then uploaded to a touch screen in your examining room. Dr. Bolitho will utilize this software to get more in depth information regarding your aesthetic “mommy makeover” wishes. Dr. Bolitho will explain the surgical process with this touch screen and discuss the latest techniques he uses to achieve the most desired aesthetic outcome.
If you choose to move forward with your surgery, a patient coordinator will handle all the details and schedule a preoperative appointment. During this appointment, you will meet with Dr. Bolitho once again to review your procedure and aesthetic goals. You will also receive preoperative and postoperative detailed instructions. Dr. Bolitho will provide you with prescriptions prior to your surgery.
A “Mommy Makeover,” may include one or more surgical procedures which will be tailored to a patient’s needs and wishes. If a woman desires both a breast and abdominal surgery, she can request two separate procedures. However, it is more common to combine both during the same surgery.
The procedure may involve one or more of the following:
Dr. Bolitho’s array of “aesthetic rejuvenation procedures” renews a woman’s body, affording her a new silhouette.
Recovery varies with each patient. For patients who chose a breast surgery, recovery may range from 7 to 10 days.
If a patient chose to incorporate a tummy tuck with a breast surgery or alone, the recovery period varies from three to four weeks.
Pain management is the most important role in recovery, especially regarding a tummy tuck. Dr. Bolitho begins pain management in the operating room because there is a direct link with a patient’s recovery and healing time.
If a full abdominoplasty was performed, Dr. Bolitho generally prefers to admit his patient to the hospital for an overnight stay.
If liposuction was performed during the abdominoplasty, a compression garment must be worn for three to four weeks.
During the healing period, it’s highly suggested for mothers to get the assistance they need by means of a certified nurse’s assistant, family member or friend for the first few days following surgery.
Proper resting and healing will allow a patient to make excellent strides in their recovery.
In your initial consultation, Dr. Bolitho explains how cosmetic surgery is a journey. The transformations are wonderful, but patience is needed as your body adjusts to their new improvements.
